I came to Sweden to work 8 years ago and fell in love with the wilderness and the beauty of the white isolation. Most of my adult life I have been in the engineering world of hi tech electronics. I fined technology fascinating and a well built product to be art. I have a passion for art of all kinds and consider art to be everywhere you just have to see it. Photography is my personal contribution to the world of art and I take thousands of photos every year.
My photos are my own particular interpretation of the world I see or the one I would like to see.
I find it very hard not to photograph lake scenery every time I go out with my camera. There are around 18 thousand lakes across Sweden. With a lake only 50m from my door myself and Ginger, my Siberian Husky are often found on the lake at any time of day or night.
Winter in Sweden can start in October and end as late as June and the temperature can drop down to 40 below. Only by living in a country with 7 months of snow can you appreciate the vast diversity of what winter can bring and understand what nature has to offer. I am often asked why I like the snow and the cold, it’s simple the snow makes everything look clean, new and unspoiled. I like the challenge of the cold and to be one with nature in such extreme conditions. I always wanted to live in a country that had snow that lasted more than a day. Coming from the north of England with climate change the snow has all but stopped coming. Sadly even here the climate is changing and one day I will have to move further north.
I hope you enjoy my photos as much as I do
